Abstract


ABSTRACT
Learning of write news was included in the basic competence Curriculum Education Unit at
the eighth grade junior high school. In the general, many students to learning of write news
were less controlled. Due to many students thinks of learning the Indonesian language was
the trivial, so that many students underestimate of this learning. This situation is shown
clearly by the low results of student work each time to write news. To improve a good the
assessment of teachers who are still regarded as one-sided assessment system, then in this
case the teacher tries to harmonize assessment systems use evaluation models of peer group
assessment (PGA). The purpose of this study is determine a student's ability to write news. As
the subjects in this study were students in grade VIII F SMP Negeri 3 Kesugihan Cilacap
District. Technic of data collection using sheet assassment. The results showed the prasiklus
there are 4 students (10%) achieved good category with a score between 71-85; 21 students
(52.5%) achieved adequate category with a score between 56-70, while 15 students (37.5%)
reached poor category with a score <56. Obtaining prasiklus average score of 58.18.
Meanwhile, studies show an increase in the first cycle to 9 students (22.5%) achieved good
category with a score between 71-85, and 31 students (77.5%) is in the category of pretty with
a score between 56-70. Obtaining an average score of the first cycle of 66.08. In the second
cycle there is an increase higher at 2 students (5%) achieved a perfect category, 24 students
(60%) in both categories, and 14 students (35%) categorized enough. The average score on
the second cycle was 71.60 up 4.40 from cycle one. Based on the results of this study
concluded PGA assessment model was be improve the ability of students to write news.
